Like countless fishermen before me who became so obsessed by the sport they could focus on little else, I made fishing my career simply because I had to.

     A fanatical father and grandfather placed a rod in my hand at an early age but I had no idea where it would lead me. From my introduction on the Chesapeake, the pursuit of fish has lead me west through the Rocky Mountain Rivers and even further west to a place where I found the fishing to be so outstanding it was unfathomable. That place is Bristol Bay, Alaska. At the heart of Bristol Bay is the fishing town of King Salmon, the home base for Blue Fly’s World Class Fishing Adventures.

     Bristol Bay drew me in because it is unspoiled and endless. For me, Katmai National Park is a gigantic playground of lakes and rivers whose fishing and scenery leaves me exhausted and awestruck. I had to stay here because once again I had no choice. Where on earth is it more common to share water with a complacent grizzly then a territorial fisherman??

     So for these reasons and others too long to list, I encourage you to explore with us. I can’t guarantee what will grab you the most, the largest salmon runs, the chubbiest rainbows, or one of the areas many other enchantments. But I can guarantee, once you do you to will join the countless fishermen before you that have become so captivated by the area they can focus on little else.

Patricia has fished and guided extensively in the Rocky Mountains and Alaska. After graduating with a double major in Biology and Environmental Science from the University of Colorado she worked for the Colorado Division of Wildlife in Angler Education. There she taught thousands of youths and adults fishing and conservation clinics covering such topics as catch and release, fisheries conservation, and whirling disease. She has also published several articles and done radio interviews on the topic of women in fly-fishing.

Patricia is part of the Ross Reels Professional Staff and holds her Captain’s Masters License for Inland and Near Coastal waters. Recognized as a reputable guide and an outstanding instructor, Patricia has been guiding in the Bristol Bay are since 1998. In 2001, she created her own business, Blue Fly World Class Fishing Adventures, out of King Salmon, Alaska, where she continues to pursue her passion.
