Over four million acres of park land will leave you in awe of what you experienced and wondering about what you missed. There are endless opportunities for fishing, hiking, and nature photography. Within the park is Brooks River, famous for bear viewing and equally renowned for its fishing. Due to the unique habitat and protection from the park, the area supports one of the largest populations of brown bears in the world.

Equally famous is Katmai’s volcanic area know as the Valley of 10,000 Smokes. Created by the aftermath of the Mt. Novarupta eruption (second largest eruption in history) in 1912, the valley floor represents the closest area on earth that simulates the moon’s surface. Both attractions are well worth exploring.
